Christian Gullette Poet Swedish Translator.jpg

A poet and experienced Swedish-to-English translator of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, Christian Gullette received his Ph.D. in Scandinavian Languages and Literatures from the University of California, Berkeley where he is now a lecturer. Currently the editor-in-chief of the Cortland Review, Christian's own poems have appeared or are forthcoming in journals such as the Kenyon Review, New England Review, Meridian, and Smartish Pace.

This May, Christian will read his work and conduct interviews at the first Unamuno Authors Series Festival in Madrid, Spain.

Glacier Buttercup (Ranunculus Glacialis)

Clings to lasting patches of snow
while winter rations its final
stipend.
If you are tender to them,
under the chin they reveal how easy it is to adore what
cannot nourish you.
